As you are aware Governor Walz announced the MN Safe Learning Plan for the Fall of 2020. With this Executive order I want to assure you that Litchfield Public Schools are ready!   We are looking forward to the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year and our staff continue to work to make your child’s educational experience a positive one. If, for any reason you have questions or concerns about your child returning to in-person learning, please reach out to our building Principals for more information regarding online learning models.

During this uncertain pandemic time, it is vital to us that we are able to communicate with you and reach you or your child’s emergency contacts if needed.  Please contact the school office if you do not remember your Parent Portal username or password.  Please login and complete your families Online Registration by going to www.litchfield.k12.mn.us, Infinite Campus Parent Portal>More>Online Registration.  We would like to release 20-21 classroom schedule/teacher information as soon as parents complete online registration updates, apply for meal benefits, verify immunizations, pay device fees, and more.

As we plan for the 2020-21 school year, we are working with MDH and Meeker County Public Health, to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and determine how to keep our students, their families and our staff healthy. Our preparedness plan is available by clicking it on the lefthand side of this screen.  The three scenarios of instruction we have prepared for are listed below.

•    Scenario 1: In-person learning for all students
•    Scenario 2: Flexible learning (in-person with social distancing and capacity limits & online learning) (referred to by MDE as Hybrid Learning)
•    Scenario 3: Online learning only (referred to by MDE as Distance Learning)

Scenario 1: All students and staff return to school
-Safety protocols in place
-Create as much space between students and teachers as is feasible during the day
-Activities and extracurricular programming should continue to follow the COVID-19 Sports Guidance for Youth and Adults

Scenario 2: Flexible Learning
-50% Capacity in buildings/50% Online Learning
-Flexible Learning groups will be conducted preferably synchronously (in real time) and/or asynchronously
-Students will be divided into two cohorts A & B.
We have determined it is best to form these groups first as household (to keep all students in a family on the same schedule) then by course and section to try to reduce the numbers in a section by 50%.  Our student information system added a tool to create these groups for us and make them as even as possible.  You will be able to view which cohort your student is assigned to by logging into Parent Portal starting August 31st.
