ADVANCED PLACEMENT HUMAN GEOGRAPHY #558 &
559 1 credit (10-11-12) Counts as one “elective” graduation standard This
Advanced Placement Human Geography course will introduce students to the study
of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, use and
alteration of Earth’s surface. In-depth concepts to be covered include
population, political organization, agriculture and rural land use,
industrialization and economic development, and cities and urban land use. This
course is open to juniors and seniors with a social studies cumulative GPA of at
least 3.0. Sophomores with a 3.0 GPA and permission from a 9th Grade World
Geography teacher may also enroll. Acceptance into this course requires
recommendation by one other social studies teacher as well as instructor
approval. Students can expect some required summer reading prior to the upcoming
school year.
