MAKEUP & LATE WORK: Students are responsible for finding out what they missed from the makeup work chart and folders. All makeup work will be located in the makeup work folders on the side of the room. As stated in the handbook, students have two days for each day absent to make up missed work. The student may check with the teacher or a fellow student if they do not understand the objectives of the assignment. For each day after the due date, an assignment will lose one third of the possible points, up to the third day. After the third day, late work will not be accepted unless accompanied by a late work pass! Tests and quizzes must be made up in a timely manner. Students will not be allowed to make up a test beyond one week! IMPORTANT: I will not accept late work past the third day (even with a pass) the week before midquarter/quarter unless it is due to an illness or been approved due to mitigating circumstances!!
TARDINESS: After the first two tardies, the office will be notified, and a unit of fine dining will be assigned. The office will be notified, and two units of F.D. will be assigned for the fourth tardy. Any tardy following this may result in suspension from school. Students may also use their 2 “free” pass spots for tardies.
PASSPORTS & DAILY WORK PASSES: Each student will be awarded a passport at the beginning of each quarter. This passport is to be used to leave the room. Students are given a different number of passes to go to various areas in the school, such as the bathroom, drinking fountain, office, and their locker. These passes should be used within the first 10 minutes of class. To use these passes, the student will present their passport to Mrs. VanderVorst to be signed before leaving the room. There are also 2 free spots that may be used if other spots are used up, or if a student is tardy to class. Attached to the bottom of the passport are daily work passes. These can be used for makeup work or other assignments for up to 10 points each. Staple these to the assignment and hand in to redeem points. **It is important not to lose your passport because you will only receive one!
